Monday Musings: Bring Glamour back!

My friend, Jessica, recently closed her dress boutique here in Portland and it was a very sad day for the stylish ladies of Portland. One thing that Jessica did very well was dress women in elegant clothing. I remember her saying on many occasions, "Why is it that people in Portland must always go out in their sweats and slippers?" [Enter the show Portlandia]

Life is messy but I really don't believe that Academy Awards hair should be. I usually adore Scarlett Johansen, but last night her hair was quite distracting from her beautiful dress. So weird. I mean a messy chignon on Bridgette Bardot was one thing, but a modern actress? I am dissapointed.

I suppose you could compare me to the millions of men who sit around watching football and yelling at the t.v., " Come On! You are so terrible! How could you miss that pass?"

But seriously, I try to put myself together for date night, girl's night, meetings with clients... And, I certainly don't show up at the grocery store in my slippers, or on national television with bed head!

Thoughtful Thursday: Blogging Your Way class!

I am having a hard time sleeping at night because all I can think about is my upcoming Blogging Your Way e-class with Holly Becker of Decor 8 and Leslie Shewring of A Creative Mint! These women are so fabulous and they are going to teach us how to really delve into the world of blogging... My biggest goal is to really find my voice here and to start blogging regularly! I am so in love with the light that both of these ladies create in their blog photography and the thoughtfulness in their writing. I am excited to learn all that I can from them. Wish me luck!

Tidy Tuesday: Spring is in my heart, but not quite in the air yet...

Can you believe we have snow on the ground today? It is the end of February and I am dreaming of Spring flowers. I am really loving this fresh grouping that Kim Foren at Geranium Lake Flowers created. I want it on my breakfast table in the morning! Such a clever way to tie the vases together, don't you think? Keeps them all together so nicely!

Fresh Finds Friday: I love these watercolor paintings!

Cate Parr is incredibly talented! I imagine several of these above a mirrored vanity or in a light-filled powder room... So glamorous!  Cate Parr on Etsy

Sara Luke at Life Less Ordinary makes the cutest cards anywhere. I used one of her adorable invitations for  my daughter's first birthday and she also made our Christmas card. L-O-V-E.

Who needs a calendar when you have a phone?

Well, I'll tell you, I do! I am constantly leaving my phone in the car, or it is out of battery, or God Forbid, I leave it at home... Regardless, I am telling you, a little calendar goes a long way. I am really loving mine right now, as I seem to be forgetting that it is already February and that it is indeed 2011.

Here are my favorites for 2011:

1. Acrylic Desk Calendar, Paper Source so easy to pop in your purse or leave in a small space on your desk! Plus, it is letterpressed, so it is really special.

2. The Calendar Card: Swifts in a Chimney, Oblation Papers so fun because Portland has the most amazing swifts that can be watched in N.W. Portland. This would be really fun to send to a friend who knows Portland well...

3. Preppy Notebook Calendar, sarahpinto from etsy.com oh, i can hardly resist! I love all of these... Check out her cute choices.

February Inspiration Board: Thinking about Old Hollywood Glamour Curls!

We are having a Blowout Party at the salon I work for because we want to get everyone glammed up for Valentine's Day and I just wanted to share my inspiration for the event! I am really loving Kate Bosworth's 40's curls! So elegant!
